As my Pinterest Board says: Change the World. Start with Coffee. It’s no secret that the warm caffeinated beverage is a morning routine staple and evolving with younger generations. Thankfully, Franklin has options.
Main & Madison Market Café
Previously the first hospital in Johnson County under the generational dedication of the Province Family, Main & Madison Market Café revamped their façade and interior as a contemporary and cozy coffee shop, equipped with delicious seasonal specials. Stop by to try one of these specials for a limited time: Butterfly Iced Matcha, Butterfly Lemonade, or a Strawberry Iced Tea. Keep your eyes peeled, because they will be changing in a few weeks!
Benjamin’s Coffeehouse and Bakeshop
A hometown favorite, Benjamin’s Coffeehouse has stood the test of time nestled in the row of delectible shops on East Court Street. Craving something other than their fresh coffee? Beat the summer heat with a refresher, available in the flavors of Rasberry, Blueberry, Peach, Dragonfruit, and Strawberry.
Coffeehouse Five
Pairing coffee with a mission, Coffeehouse Five is a For-Benefit Coffeehouse, where their net revenue contributes to available services such as free premarital and marriage counseling, free addiction recovery programs, and free mentor training. Be sure to visit on a day when the weather is mild – the staff will roll up the garage doors that line the walls for a calming breeze. Just as impressive, their coffee is roasted in-house for the smoothest taste possible – now THAT is quality control!
1823 Bakehouse
Although 1823 Bakehouse boasts an excellent coffee menu, what sets them apart is their choice of 80 different loose leaf teas! After one of their delightful gluten-free pastries, I like to opt for their Masala Chai Latte with oatmilk. It is truly the perfect blend of sweet and spicy! Catch an amazing view of the Johnson County Courthouse from their barstool window seating – the perfect place to wrap up some homework or journal.
The Local Grind
Where sodashop meets steampunk, the whimsical nature of The Local Grind has something for all ages! The shop is most notable for their themed drinks featuring fun colors, delicious taste and interesting toppings. For example, the month of May included a tribute to Alice in Wonderland, where you could purchase a green and blue Catepillar Cotton Candy Shake, a Cheshire Cat Watermelon Smoothie, and more!
