When I think of summer, I picture sunshine, a cool body of water, and a great book in my hand.
Thankfully, downtown Franklin is equipped with awesome book options for all reading levels and ages.
Wild Geese Bookshop
If you feel like stepping into a world of color and literature, head over to Wild Geese Bookshop. Tiffany, the independent bookstore owner, has a knack for finding titles that appeal to all reading tastes and interests.
Beyond the stunning book covers that glint from the walls of what was long ago one of Franklin’s notable hotels, Wild Geese has kitchen gadgets, gardening supplies, motivational desk accessories, and so much more.
Join the monthly book club that meets on their idyllic front porch – click “here” to see the summer book club features.
Toodleydoo Toys
Another great location boasting a vast collection of children’s literature is Toodleydoo Toys, located on the iconic Courthouse Square.
Debi and her staff are only a hop, skip and a jump away to make great recommendations that suit your kiddo’s interests. She even has “Free Storytime Friday” on the Courthouse lawn (every Friday!) where local guests – like our dedicated Franklin Policemen and Firemen – read popular books!
Johnson County Public Library
For those who are avid readers, those who are attempting to reconnect with reading as a hobby, or even the folks who have set lofty reading goals for this summer, check out the Franklin Branch of the Johnson County Public Library! Find a whole calendar of summer activities hosted by the library “here”.
Participate in fun reading challenges or visit the next Friends of Johnson County Public Library Book Sale. I personally have found some amazing works of fiction and cookbooks at the book sales!
Happy Discovering!
